Tasks

-Applies a bull float to the concrete to further smooth the surface and bring the moisture to the top of the concrete area. The float is operated by a concrete finisher applying pressure to the float as it is moved back and forth over the concrete. -Levelling the top surface of freshly poured concrete on floors, walls, ceilings, or sidewalks. Responsible for finishing the concrete surface to meet the tolerances for thickness and flatness before the concrete has cured. Initially, the concrete finisher must strike the concrete with a screed to create a level, smooth surface. -The individual in this position will periodically walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read/see, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger/type. The frequency of each action varies by workflow and field activity. -Follow safe work practices in accordance with the Hensel Phelps safety and health program. -Constantly reads written communications and views mail submissions. Will also need to read and understand blueprints, load charts, and take/verify field measurements. -Applying hardening and sealing compounds to cure the surface of concrete. This includes waterproofing, damp-proofing, and restoring concrete surfaces. -Stooping - Bending the body downward and forward by the spine at the waist. -Promotes a safe work environment and communicates jobsite hazards. -Use of hands and wrists with various tools. -Installing anchor bolts, steel plates and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete. -Operates a trowel to finish the surface when the concrete has reached a semi-cured status. Moves the machine over the concrete surface to level the concrete and develop the desired finish. Follows up with the finish trowel using the steel trowel. Often, after the mechanical trowel has been used, the final troweling is performed by the concrete finisher using a 14-inch steel trowel. -Positioning themselves on the concrete forms and moving the pump hose or concrete bucket into place for the pouring of the concrete.

What You Bring

-Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills. -Tolerate legally permissible exposure to dusts and chemicals, such as cement dust, solvents, and curing compounds. -High School Diploma or GED. -Possess a keen attention to detail and be able to follow instructions. -Repetitive use of hands and wrists using power, rotational, and vibration tools including prolonged use of jackhammers and pavement breakers. -Sometimes operates a computer or tablet and other office machinery, such as a calculator and phone. -Prolonged use of jackhammer and pavement breaker. -CPR & First Aid Certification. -Must be able to hear commands from supervisors and back-up safety alarms on equipment. -Heavy Work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. -Experienced in construction layout, blueprint reading and shop drawing reading. -Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally. -Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction for various lengths of time. -Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate. -OSHA 10 Certification. -Verification of Work Authorization and Employment Eligibility -Workers must provide their own safety footwear. -Background Checks for Badging/Security Clearances (if applicable) -Grasping - Needs to apply pressure to an object with fingers and palm regularly. -Working from heights - the person must be comfortable and able to work from heights for extended amounts of time. -Use of wheelbarrows and brooms. -The person must be able to safely wear a respirator and is able to pass applicable medical and fit testing examinations. -Climbing - Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding and ramps at various heights. -Must be able to take initiative -Balancing - Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling and to walk, stand or crouch. -Walking - The person in this position needs to frequently move about the jobsite. -Valid Driver's License required. -Must be reliable and punctual. -Physical Exam (if applicable)
