The Role

Overview

Locate and mark subsurface utilities to prevent damage during excavation.

Tasks

-You report any personal or vehicle/equipment accidents/incidents immediately to supervisors, and corporate and assist in the investigation of the same -Be responsible for locating cables and verification in accordance with blueprints and designated plans -Maintain company equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines -You are directly responsible for all personal actions and any personnel, vehicles, or equipment in the care, custody, or control

What You Bring

-You have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy a hands-on approach to your work -You can lift up to 50 lbs. -Possessing a valid CDL (A) license a plus -You have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record -You are required to extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, twisting, reaching above shoulder level or working in confined spaces -You have a track record of completing work with a high level of quality -You have considerable independent judgment must be used, as the accuracy of the locate depends heavily upon how well the readings from the equipment are interpreted -You possess general knowledge of construction practices -You have previous experience in underground utility construction is a plus -You have knowledge of reading and understanding blueprints, electronic quarter section, and plat maps is required -As the Utility Locator usually works alone, an employee in this class is expected to exercise considerable initiative in moving efficiently through the day's work assignments -You have a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred -You are willing to work outdoors in all types of weather (i.e. snow, rain, wind, etc.) and work overtime as required
