Overview

Perform and verify blood bank lab tests on night shift, ensuring accurate results.

Tasks

-Conduct laboratory tests and procedures using techniques such as ELISA, RNA extraction, and flow cytometry. -Recognize normal, abnormal, unusual, and critical results and take appropriate action as established by laboratory policy. -Repeat specimen testing as necessary to ensure accuracy. -Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities. -Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary. -Execute a variety of manual, semi-automated, and automated Biochemical, Hematological, Microbiological, and/or Blood Bank analyses on varied patient specimens. -Perform Hematology, Chemistry, and Urinalysis testing. -Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care. -Maintain, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper functionality. -Prepare patient samples for testing and determine the acceptability of specimens and results. -Verify accuracy of results and initiate corrective action when indicated. -Accurately prepare, label, and store reagents, standards, controls, and specimens for analysis.

What You Bring

-Proficiency in one of the following areas: hematology, clinical chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, or microscopy. -Blood bank experience is required. -Ability to work independently and within a team environment. -Experience working in a hospital or clinical laboratory. -Certified Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS). Certification must be from ASCP, NCA, AMT, or AAB. -Certification in Medical Technology, Medical Lab Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science from recognized certifying bodies. -Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or other related science. -Ability to interpret test results and apply them to patient care.
