Tasks

-Answers client questions and assists them promptly -Prepare written reports outlining findings and recommendations for plan revisions -Stay up-to-date with changes in building codes, regulations, and industry best practices -Communicate with architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners to discuss plan revisions and code compliance issues -Verify that plans accurately depict the intended construction and that they meet local standards -Examine building plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with building codes, zoning laws, and other regulations -Identify discrepancies or violations and work with applicants to address and resolve them -Follows safety procedures

What You Bring

-Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor -Previous experience in an A/E/C fir -Strong knowledge of local building codes and regulations -Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals -Ability to function in a high-stress environment, be a strong multi-tasker, and be a team player -Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software and plan review tools -Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form -A bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred -Ability to read and write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as writing routine reports and correspondence and speaking effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients -Regular attendance is required -Proficiently operate a computer -State of Florida Building Plans Examiner license -Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; talk and hear. Body motions and movements include bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation. -Lifting and/or occasionally moving up to 35 pounds can be expected, with or without reasonable accommodation. -Attention to detail and excellent analytical skills -Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification) -Knowledge and usage of proper format, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
