The Role

Overview

Configure/test telecom and radio systems for rail, oversee installations, and ensure compliance.

Tasks

-Perform and be accountable for verification and validation activities starting in the factory until system hand over -Create checklists and reports including system configuration, test results and any identified issues. -System integration, ensuring seamless integration between the network and radio systems, including synchronization and interoperability. -Configure and test network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls) and radio communications hardware (base stations, antennas, DAS). -Troubleshoot network and radio equipment, conduct network performance tests, identifying, and resolving any connectivity issues or radio signal interference. -Test Network, radio and fiber systems -Perform site surveys on railroad property to lay out basic equipment. -Supervise installations of Fiber Optic Cabling Systems and data communications systems -Configure network protocols (IP addressing, routing protocols) and radio protocols (LMR and wideband).

What You Bring

-Working Knowledge of network design patterns, constraints and protocols (networking certification preferred) -Working knowledge of wireless communications in demanding scenarios -Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to communicate complex technical information. -Skilled in handling electric, electronic, and mechanical drawings and schematics. -Minimum of 5 years of experience working with medium/complex networks and in radio deployment. -From 2 to 5 years of Railway System Engineering and Commissioning expertise -Radio Frequency/Telecommunications Qualifications/University Degree -Excellent ability to use test equipment including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and a spectrum analyzer. -Working knowledge of Test and commissioning processes. -Working knowledge of Switching and Routing protocols -Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
