Tasks

Move Metro Vancouver Forward — Lead Safety, Security, and Innovation at SkyTrain As Director, Rail Safety & Security, you’ll be part of our Executive Senior Leadership Team, guiding the safety and security of SkyTrain operations across Metro Vancouver. You’ll lead with purpose—empowering teams to deliver reliable, forward-thinking transit solutions that make a difference every day. -Your role will involve building strong relationships with regulators, emergency response leaders, intelligence agencies, and other organizations, including Transit Police. -As the Director, you will provide strategic direction and oversight in all areas related to railway safety, security, environmental sustainability, and emergency management. -You will lead the development and implementation of integrated management systems, foster a proactive safety culture, and collaborate with TransLink resources to align strategies and plans. -As an experienced and influential leader in safety, you will also motivate and manage a dedicated team, providing leadership in hiring, training, development, and performance management. -You will use your extensive knowledge and expertise in safety and emergency management to oversee the development of comprehensive safety assurance disciplines, environmental sustainability programs, and emergency management plans. -With your expertise, you will drive progressive ideas, continually improve systems, and ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations.

What You Bring

-At least 10 years of progressive experience in commuter or passenger rail operations, safety assurance, and emergency management. Related heavy industrial sectors (e.g. construction) may also be considered. -Equivalent qualifications are welcomed—BCRTC values diverse expertise and a shared commitment to safety, innovation, and teamwork. -Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation. -Experience working in multi-disciplinary environments and engaging diverse stakeholders—including public, private, regulatory, and union groups. -A technical degree and relevant experience in safety, security, or emergency management.

Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from $130,400 to $195,600 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role. We aim to provide competitive pay that reflects your professional background and expertise. We want to ensure our offer will align with your strengths considering experience, skills, and internal equity to offer a fair and equitable salary. The Total Compensation Package, which includes Extended Health, Dental, Transit Pass and enrollment in the Public Service Pension Plan as well as other employment offerings will be discussed in detail as your application progresses.
