The Role

Overview

Design and oversee structural engineering for transmission and distribution projects.

Tasks

-Research and compile project related data as required by the project managers. -Responsible for QA/QC process adherence. -Modify and review production drawings for a variety of transmission and distribution projects. -Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies. -Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to the structural engineering practice. Mentor and guide less experienced engineers. -Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration. -Perform structural design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion. -Quality review production drawings for a variety of projects and project related data as required by the project managers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software. -Design structural components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers. -Performs field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients. -Responsible for effective communication with other engineering disciplines.

What You Bring

-Bachelor of Science in Structural Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program. -Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of structural design codes (e.g., IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE 7). Strong written and verbal communication skills. -Successful completion (i.e.passing) FE or EIT required. -Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills. -3 years of structural engineering experience, consulting preferred. -Plans to obtain Professional Engineering License (PE) when eligible per State requirements. -Applies strong knowledge of commonly used structural engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the structural engineering services industry. -Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures. -Or Bachelor of Science in Structural or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. -Strong computer skills include structural analysis programs (e.g., RISA 3D), AutoCAD, Mathcad. Microstation a plus. -Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience. -Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills. -Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications. -Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
