Tasks

This senior leadership role is based in Toronto and is responsible for positioning Canderel as a leading presence in the Toronto marketplace. The successful candidate will act as Canderel’s ambassador, leveraging an extensive network of contacts and relationships within the commercial real estate industry to drive growth across multiple fronts. -Sourcing and executing development and investment initiatives across asset classes. -Source, evaluate, and negotiate acquisition and joint venture opportunities, with a focus on commercial assets (office, industrial, mixed-use). -Foster a collaborative, accountable, and innovative culture across all internal teams. -Ensure compliance with governance standards and corporate responsibility. -Actively promote Canderel’s services and capabilities to secure new property management and development/project management mandates. -Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, institutional investors, and public stakeholders. -Identifying and attracting investment capital for existing and future projects. -Take responsibility for Toronto market P&L, maximizing profitability through revenue growth and cost management. -Define and execute the strategic direction for Toronto’s investment, development, and business development activities. -Oversee financial modeling, due diligence, and investment underwriting. -Serve as Canderel’s primary representative in the Toronto market, enhancing brand visibility and credibility. -Maintain high-level relationships with municipal authorities, consultants, and planning teams to secure approvals and community alignment. -Drive investment committee presentations and support decision-making with robust business cases. -Actively pursue new property management and development/project management service contracts. -Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of investment, development, and business development professionals. -Collaborate with construction leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget. -Report regularly to the President on pipeline progress, investment performance, and business development initiatives. -Driving business development initiatives to secure new property management and project management service contracts. -Identify market trends, risks, and emerging opportunities to drive long-term value. -Oversee the full development lifecycle: feasibility, entitlements, design, budgeting, and delivery. -Develop and maintain relationships with capital partners to secure funding for current and future projects. -Position Canderel as a trusted partner for institutional and private clients seeking management and development expertise.

What You Bring

Reporting directly to the President, this role requires a strategic leader who can combine investment acumen with relationship-driven business development to expand Canderel’s footprint in Toronto. -Bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, finance, or urban planning; MBA or related graduate degree preferred. -Strong understanding of real estate finance, transaction structuring, development processes, and risk management. -Proven success sourcing and executing complex real estate transactions and securing service mandates. -15+ years of experience in real estate investment, development, and business development, ideally within the GTA. -Demonstrated ability to attract investment capital and build strategic partnerships. -Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills.
