The Role

Overview

Electrical/Instrumentation technician maintaining power and control systems up to 13.8kV

Tasks

-Installs, programs and troubleshoots Variable Frequency Drives. -Comply with all Company policies and procedures. -Repairs and inspects high/low voltage electrical wiring and systems. -Performs periodic substation equipment inspections and meter readings. -Measures, cuts, bends, threads, etc., pipe, conduit, and tubing. -Connects, disconnects and troubleshoots electric motors and motor starters. -Operates and maintains switchgear and electrical power distribution equipment up to 13.8kV. -Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of others. Promptly report Safety, Health or Environmental issues or incidents to management. -Perform switching and coordinate with Electric Utility and contractors for maintenance on electrical systems up to 230kV. -Removes, installs and replaces electrical lighting and fixtures. -Fully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams. -Maintains and troubleshoots UPS and Battery systems.

What You Bring

-High School graduate plus one to two years of additional education in electrical and/or instrumentation schools. -A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required. -Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work. -Familiar with and follows electrical safe work practices in accordance with NFPA 70E. -Two to five years field experience in Instrument/Electrical Field.
