Tasks
-Moderate level interface with mission partners, clients, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to prepare, validate, and deliver key design efforts -Collaborate in a design team environment, working together with engineers, designers, and project managers -Deliver Fire Protection Engineering subject matter expertise to our unique DoD federal government, Military, and Intelligence Community partners to include: -Satellite Reconnaissance Launch and Support Buildings -Grow and expand your career by receiving mentorship from a variety of Mid-Level and Senior Professionals -Take ownership of small projects or portions of larger projects -Intelligence Community Data Centers and Support Buildings -Independently create and evaluate design analyses, conceptual designs, program requirements, calculations, equipment selection and layout, and system selection and layout for the following:

What You Bring
-Secure (SCIF) Compartmented Buildings and Facilities -Proficiency with MS Office, Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam -Engineer-in-training (EIT) or NICET Level 3 and above; PE License preferred -Willingness to learn; ability to work semi-independently as well as on teams; self-motivated -Ability to obtain PE within 1 to 2 years is a plus -Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality. -Fire Suppression Systems (wet-pipe, dry-pipe, pre-action systems) -Employment with Merrick is contingent upon completion of a pre-employment background check, MVR check, and drug screen. -Life Safety Code and Building Code Analysis -Client projects for this position require US Citizenship -Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering (ABET accredited) -Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted. -Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. -May be required to lift up to 20 lbs. -Minimum three (3) years of experience in Fire Protection Engineering (internship experience counts) -Experience in Fire Protection Engineering for DoD federal government, Intelligence Community and Military projects -Have the willingness and ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance -Moderate-to-advanced knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), International Building Codes, Life Safety Codes, and NFPA Codes and Standards
