The Role

Overview

Implement startup, sequencing, commissioning and training for HVAC/Plumbing projects.

Tasks

-Execute and assist with the coordination of Owner Training. -Keeps files in a concise, orderly manner. -Assigns punch list items to the appropriate field superintendent. -Assist commissioning Agents while they are on-site with any needs or questions they may have. -Keeps a daily record. -Verify that equipment is ready to be started by the vendor. -Completes startup forms for equipment as required. -Assist in pre-testing of controls and DDC point-to-point and logic sequencing. -Ensures that the start-up crew is professionally conducting themselves. -Motivate the crew to the highest level. -Assembly and disassembly of various pieces of equipment. -Assist in the communication of Commissioning issues to SPC’s team. -Activate and document the starting conditions of the equipment. -Adjust equipment settings such that it will operate according to design drawings and specifications. -When required to do so, provides technical assistance for the best application for a particular installation. -Assist in piping system flushing and complete documentation for the flushing activities. -Participates in Autodesk Build QA/QC punch list. -Can personally show the crew members the quality expected of SPC Mechanical. -Works with factory startup technicians and obtains forms as required. -Documents all job-related occurrences. -Complete required Commissioning documentation. -Procure material as needed to complete tasks within contract scope, such as: -Brazing with Nitrogen Purge. -Maintain a high level of understanding of total HVAC and Plumbing installation and operation, equipment capabilities, and controls systems architecture and sequences. -Completes startup documentation to be included in turnover packages. -Displays a courteous and professional manner to customers and their representatives. -Troubleshoot issues with equipment or system operation and provide solutions. -Closes out completed punch list items. -Works with PM to plan, schedule, and coordinate all start-up and commissioning processes of assigned projects. -Keeps file in a concise, orderly manner.

What You Bring

-Current driver’s license. -Plumbing equipment such as air compressors, vacuum pumps, and sump pumps -Ability to read and interpret documents. -Ability to frequently lift or carry up to 75 pounds and assist with lifting to 120 pounds -Must have a high level of skill in troubleshooting of multiple trades and types of systems, such as: -Activation of equipment and ability to find startup requirements in the Installation Manual. -Understands the value of each customer to SPC Mechanical regardless of the size or scope of the job. -Understand system start-up, test and balancing, commissioning, and diagnosis. -Must be able to travel throughout regional projects -Universal EPA certification recommended; will be required to acquire within 1 year. -Comfortable working on ladders, rooftops, and crawl spaces -Special wiring as needed -Ability to climb rooftop access ladders -Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. -Have overall ability to diagnose and report problem situations accurately. -Uses Autodesk Build for QC/QA processes. -Proficient in the use of special tools or equipment such as flow meters, flow hoods, temp cooling, etc. -Understand and stay current with industry trends and standards. -Understand Electrical Systems and be able to troubleshoot line-side work and troubleshoot/resolve low-voltage (24V) issues. -Displays the ability to find solutions to problems. -Ability to lead crew in the direction most productive for the timely completion of the job while following the project commissioning process. -Two years of mechanical service, equipment startup, or Commissioning experience. -Glycol as required -Refrigerant for Dx Startup -Is knowledgeable of trade standards in general as well as SPC Mechanical standards in particular. -Mechanical equipment such as Chillers, Cooling Towers, Air Handling Units, and Fans
