Tasks
-Senior Lifeguard/Instructors must ensure all awards remain current and are required to provide the employer with copies of updated awards. -Assist with employee recruitment and retention including planning and hosting information sessions, training new employees, and helping potential employees apply online. -Respond to and supervise emergency situations, and ensure all follow up and required documentation is completed. -Assist in evaluating instructional and lifeguard techniques of lifeguard staff including checking lesson plans, and providing coaching and performance evaluations. -Manage and oversee high level courses -Assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of in-service training and staff development. -Assist in the program planning process for aquatic programs and schedules, which includes contributing to setting goals and objectives. -Conduct leadership courses such as, but not limited to, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard. -Assist LI/LII’s with managing their awards and future training. -Follow all rules and regulations as set out in the Provincial Swimming Pool Regulations, Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and the City of Regina Occupational Health and Safety Manual. -Plan, organize and implement special events and information nights for recruitment and including onsite visits at schools.

What You Bring
-Demonstrated skills in communication and public speaking. -Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid Award, St. John’s Standard First Aid Award or Lifesaving Society Aquatic Emergency Care Award -Successful candidates may be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check per the City of Regina's Criminal Record Check Policy. -In addition, all employees must be certified in any two of the following Instructor, Instructor Trainer or Examiner Awards: -Knowledge of training and instruction techniques applicable to the work. -Demonstrated skill in swimming, lifeguarding and instructional duties. -Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques employed in water safety and lifeguarding activities. -Typically the knowledge, skills and abilities required are obtained through completion of grade twelve (12) or GED Equivalent combined with two (2) years experience in an aquatics facility providing effective lifeguard and instructional responsibilities. -Knowledge of the general rules and regulations of the Provincial Swimming Pool Regulations and Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act. -Ability to problem solve and experience in conflict resolution. -Ability to show initiative and dedication as shown by contributions made to the aquatics field. -The employee may be transferred between City of Regina aquatics’ facilities and will be required to work non-standard hours. -Lifesaving Society Aquatic Supervisor Award/City of Regina Lead Guard Course -Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with the general public and co-workers. -Knowledge of the rules, regulations and procedures dealing with swimming pool operations, as outlined by the relevant acts, bylaws and policies. -Ability to supervise the work of program staff. -Lifesaving Society Bronze, Aquatic Emergency Care or National Lifeguard Examiner -Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively in oral and written form. -Standard First Aid Instructor (Red Cross or St. John’s) -Proof of education is required. -CPR Level C / Automated External Defibrillation Certification (must be re-certified every 2 years) -Canadian Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer
