The Role

Overview

Conduct quality control reviews of OSP engineering design packages for compliance and cost-effectiveness.

Tasks

-Approve designs before submittal to customer. -Identify missing and/or incorrect design information. -Own the quality control process to produce a value-engineered design, removing all obstacles for construction. -Collaborate with project managers, permitting coordinators, and engineers to resolve design discrepancies efficiently. -Ensure that all Aerial, Underground and Buried cable designs have been reviewed and analyzed for the most cost-effective solutions and placement. -Work a schedule that parallels the hours of the work schedule of our customer -Utilize QGIS or other GIS tools to validate spatial data accuracy, topology, and design integrity. -Perform Quality review on all OSP Engineering Design packages. -Communicate quality issues with the engineer and engineering manager to find resolution. -Participate in QA/QC process improvements, helping to refine workflows and increase overall efficiency. -Manage and enforce engineering quality and compliance with outside plant design specification. -Ensure current design is the most effective and efficient plan to follow. -Verify that the Customer scope of work or plan was followed. -Verify that all existing underground and aerial facilities are correctly located per customer records, city records, and per field conditions if applicable. -Ensure designs are in accordance with customer specifications and guidelines.

What You Bring

-Working knowledge of client software systems and builds -Ability to work independently and as a Team member -3+ years of OSP Design engineering experience. -Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat. Working knowledge of Google Earth/Maps. -Should have strong understanding of Design and construction of Outside Plant Fiber Optic Cable (UG, Aerial, Buried) and conduit design. -Excellent time management. -1+ years of experience performing QC review on OSP Design packages prepared by others. -Highly organized, self-starter, and detail oriented. -Knowledge of Fiber backbone (F1) and distribution networks (F2). -Excellent communication and collaboration skills — able to clearly convey findings and recommendations to design and engineering teams. -Knowledge of the NESC influencing design decisions -Ability to upload/download and edit documents in Project Management software. -Knowledge of permitting processes (highway, railroad, city, county, etc.) -Ability to take direction with ease, including changes to schedule and workflow priorities. -Experience with fiber technologies such as Overbuild/LightGig/FTTH/experience a plus -Strong attention to detail. -High school diploma or GED equivalent. -Possess strong professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. -Critical thinking skills: make assessments and provide solutions to problems. -Accurately depict new construction route opportunities, with the ability to identify, research and problem solve cable path/placement issues and accurately relay solutions to the engineering team.
