Tasks

-Sets up or removes traffic cones to facilitate the marking of utilities located in the road -Prepares or updates maps to make corrections for specific plats -Accurately record and report your work each day on the forms provided -Works in a variety of hazardous environments such as construction sites and traffic rights-of-way while performing locate assignments -Works with paints using normal protective equipment to mark utility lines -Distinguishes colors to mark utilities with the designated color for the corresponding utility. Uses common hand tools such as a hammer or screwdriver to open various utility appurtenances enabling direct attachment of locating equipment -Perform all task assignments using required industry standards in a timely fashion -Interacts effectively with contractors, coworkers, and the general public to establish and maintain effective working relationships -Prepares various clear and concise written reports and forms including vehicle mileage reports, daily time sheets, work completed documents, etc. -Comply with all AEI policies and procedures -Inspect and correct your own work before turning it in -Communicate your workflow needs to your team and to your supervisor -Read and interpret utility records, as built and survey drawings and highway design plans -Work with your team to maximize your production and accuracy to help achieve shared goals -Operates various electronic devices designed to assist in the locating of subsurface utilities -Operates a laptop PC in order to obtain information regarding excavation locations and to input status of work performed -Participate in cross-training as requested to build a stronger team -Review and prioritize work before beginning, plan field work in advance

What You Bring

-Must be able to lift 50 pounds and walk for long periods of time through different types of terrain and weather conditions -Associate’s degree preferred -Current Commercial Driver’s License is a plus -Willing to work infrequent overtime when requested -Must be able to use computer or phone web applications to complete weekly timesheets, request time off, and communicate with co-workers and clients. -Pre-employment drug screening, background and motor vehicle checks are required -High School Diploma or GED required -Team player who communicates well and is able to work independently -Trustworthy, reliable, methodical, consistent, and problem solver -Valid Florida Driver’s License -Individual must have good technical and communication skills ->4 years of similar experience to be considered for a Technician III -OSHA Certifications -Operates a motor vehicle (example: pickup truck) requiring a standard Florida Driver’s License to complete locating assignments and to respond to emergencies -Experience in utility locating (minimum 2 years) -Experience training junior technicians -Understand all applicable industry standards for assigned tasks -Able to create legible field sketches, simple mathematics, and basic field measurements
