Tasks

-Review of Contractor produced designs & deliverables in accordance with legislation, standards and specifications, and response to Technical Queries. -Development of outline scheme designs -Design delivery under NEC Design & Construct and PSC contracts, and input into these contracts -Design of hydraulic systems including pump sizing & selection, head loss calculations & system curves, air valve design practices and implications/requirements of surge within a system. -Providing technical guidance to project teams and Mechanical Engineers that report to you, as well as technical stakeholder engagement. -Interfacing with other disciplines and integration of those requirements with mechanical design. -Participation in HAZOP/ALM studies and risk review meetings -On-site inspection of works and surveys in accordance with standards and specifications and on site testing and commissioning. -Building Engineering Physics and building services – heat, ventilation, noise, moisture. -Analysis of options and selection of technical solutions as appropriate -Construction supervision for small projects -Project delivery under NEC3 Design and Construct and PSC contracts. -Production of technical reports and the ability to work independently and as a team member to carry out checking, reviews and approval of complex electrical detailed designs, to include calculations, specifications, reports and drawings. -Ensuring contractors designs comply with the latest company specifications and other relevant industry specifications (Wimes, IET wiring regulations etc.) and legislations. -Undertake designers responsibilities under the most appropriate Health and Safety Legislation under direction set out by the Discipline Lead. -Acting as a deputy authorising engineering, under south east waters Mechanical Technical Memorandum -Development of technical solutions and coordinating work with multi-disciplinary teams {Process, Civil and Mechanical) -Assistance in preparation of scheme programmes, estimates and tender documentation -Design and specifications for clean/potable water related projects, including treatment plant, pumped systems and pipework, chemical dosing, mixing.

What You Bring

-Chartered engineer (or working towards) -Ability to develop and mentor junior staff. -Ability to give technical guidance, work under pressure, and progress work within budget and deadline constraints. -Good technical report writing and editorial skills, and good oral communication. -Influential with leadership capability and good supervisory skills. -Degree qualified in mechanical engineering or equivalent industry experience. -Additionally, as part of the employment offer, you will need to pass background, identity, and employment referencing checks. -Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. -It is necessary for you to have the legal right to work in the UK when you begin employment with South East Water. -Competent IT skills and ability to pick up new systems & processes. -Ability to work closely with others and communicate effectively. -Full & clean UK driving licence. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills. -Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems including pressure/flow/level and analytical instrumentation e.g. chlorine, turbidity, pH instrumentation and control.
