Install, splice, and test fiber and copper telecom cables at LA Air Force Base.

Tasks

-Lays cable along existing raceways. Locates cables, snakes through walls, and ceilings. -Creates organized files for reporting and recordkeeping. -Generate reports for the Site Project Manager. -Assists with prefabricated communication shelters by assisting with ISP/OSP cable entrance and overhead cable tray. -Splices and terminates fiber and copper cables used in telecommunications systems. -Validates that all components have been properly installed, secured, grounded, and tested. -Ensures work site conditions (cleanliness), including restoration of the site to original or better condition. -Assists with splicing overhead or underground cables used in telecommunications systems. -Performs work under the supervision and guidance of senior-level staff. -Surveys, designs, and implements physical fiber connections, tests live/dark fiber, and ensure splices and distributions suffer no loss in fidelity. -Measures, cuts, installs, and tests (according to standards identified in test plan) fiber and copper cables. -Performs fiber optic cable fusion splicing and testing with a multifunctional splice machine. -Supports accurate cable labeling.
