The Role

Overview

Lead Moulding & Fabrication teams, ensure safety, quality, lean ops at Smithfield plant

Tasks

-Drive operational excellence through Lean and 5S principles, focusing on safety, quality, cost, and delivery. -Champion a Zero Harm safety culture, ensuring compliance with Vinidex Pathways to Safe Work and ISO standards. -Ensure SOPs are followed, and training is delivered to maintain high standards and reduce risk. -Lead, mentor and coach a 50+ team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning. -Lead initiatives to improve recyclate usage, reduce scrap, and support new tooling and product development. -Collaborate with tooling, maintenance, and engineering teams to optimise equipment performance and reduce downtime. -Oversee production planning, shift handovers, tier meetings, and SAP reporting to ensure accurate and timely performance tracking. -Resolve complex manufacturing issues through root cause analysis and implement corrective actions. -Build strong relationships across shifts and departments to ensure consistent messaging and team alignment.

What You Bring

-Able to work autonomously as part of a team with a collaborative style, is positive, resilient, innovative and challenges the status quo. -Technical and strong mechanical aptitude, with the ability to analayse and solve complex manufacturing problems. -Strong leadership and people management skills and experience in coaching and mentoring both skilled and unskilled labour, to develop and get the best out of the team. -Demonstrated experience using computer systems, specifically MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), SAP experience (advantageous). -Highly effective planning and organisation skills, with excellent time management, and coordination skills, have a sense of urgency, results focused. -3–5 years of leadership experience in a fast-moving heavy industrial manufacturing environment in Plastic (preferred), Steel, FMCG. -Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics preferred). -Strong communication skills with the ability to make quick decisions and build stakeholder and customer relationships. -Proven experience in safety, project management, continuous improvement, including lean manufacturing knowledge and implementation (preferred). -Thrive in fast-paced environment, safety-focused, and bring a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset to everything you do.
