The Role

Overview

Inspect and remediate corrosion on gas meters, documenting findings and ensuring safety.

Tasks

-Work may involve entering customer properties, navigating residential and commercial areas, and interacting with the public. -Conduct remediation actions such as wire brushing, cleaning, priming, painting, and application of approved protective coatings. -Perform thorough visual and physical examinations of above-ground piping and associated components. -Focus inspection efforts on corrosion-prone areas including soil-to-air interfaces, pipe supports, dis-bonded coatings, splash zones, and exposed metallic components. -Use appropriate tools and techniques to assess coating integrity and detect corrosion. -Identify and document any gas leaks at the meter location based on odor detection and follow emergency protocols if a leak is detected. -Document all findings using the Company-approved Survey123 application or Service Suit application. -Smartphone Device - taking photos and downloading files into approved application. -Ensure compliance with all Operator Qualification (OQ) requirements as mandated by the MSA, Commercial Terms, Company’s operating procedures, industry standards, or regulatory bodies.

What You Bring

-Knowledge of Company’s O&M Manual and applicable federal regulations. -Ability to perform remediation actions and follow emergency protocols. -Work includes frequent walking for long distances, standing for long periods, repeated bending or crouching, and carrying equipment or handheld devices. -Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing -Experience with the Survey123 application or Service Suit application. -Strong attention to detail and ability to document findings accurately and completely. -Knowledge of federal regulations, including but not limited to 49 CFR -Proven experience in atmospheric corrosion inspection or a related field. -Possession of a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record and the ability to operate a motor vehicle and procession of reliable transportation with flexibility to travel around Houston is required. -Ability to traverse uneven terrain and work outdoors in all weather conditions. -Certification in atmospheric corrosion inspection or a related field. -192.481 and -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. -Familiarity with the use of inspection tools and techniques for assessing coating integrity and detecting corrosion. -Ability to work independently and as part of a team. -High school diploma or equivalent
