Reporting directly into the National Environmental Director, you’ll lead your team with a clear roadmap to build a 60-70 person integrated Environmental & Geosciences division within two years.

This role isn’t about micromanaging or chasing utilisation - it’s about setting the direction. You’ll steer strategy, client relationships and people leadership across Queensland while operating within a single national P&L model that rewards strong business acumen and collaboration.

As the Environmental Business Lead for Queensland, you’ll take ownership of a Multi-Million $$ project portfolio and lead a 20+ strong team of Environmental Planners, Scientists and Ecologists within a top-tier national consultancy that’s stable, profitable and built around a collaborative, state-based leadership model.

  • Drive client engagement and business development within key sectors: infrastructure, defence, mining, renewables and industry
  • Lead and grow a team across Environmental Approvals, Ecology and CLM
  • Take responsibility for project portfolio, resourcing and delivery outcomes
  • Develop strategy and direction for Queensland’s environmental business
  • Build internal relationships with long-standing Principals and project leads
  • Operate nationally - collaborating with 300+ peers across Water, Transport & Buildings
  • Participate in biannual national conferences to share strategy and innovation
  • Oversee hiring, mentoring, bids and leadership for the QLD environment business

You might currently be a Technical or Senior Principal in Environmental Approvals or Ecology ready for the next step, or already leading a team and looking for a national platform and long-term runway.

  • Experienced leader with commercial and delivery awareness
  • Pref for Ecology or Approvals discipline - an interest in building the ecology team would be highly regarded
  • Background in Environmental Approvals, Planning or Ecology
  • Proven ability to manage, mentor and grow teams
  • Comfortable with client engagement and steering BD strategy
  • Understands the mechanics of a P&L (though not measured on one directly)

$240,000 – $280,000 + bonus structure
