Overview
Install, splice, test, and maintain copper and fiber cables for ISP OSP projects.

Tasks
-Determine air flow and pressure in cables – aerial and underground. Preparing cables for pressurization and maintaining cable pressure. -Splicing of copper cable using various tools, in an aerial, buried, or office environment. -Testing and troubleshooting copper. -Works aloft; climbs ladders and poles; enters tunnels, buildings, trenches, crawl spaces, manholes, and other confined spaces to accomplish job tasks. -Proper installation of various closures on copper cables. -Tests and adjusts complex equipment using testing devices, e.g., signal generators, oscilloscopes, transmission measuring sets, volt-ohm-millimeters, etc -Making necessary preparations required for splicing, rearranging, and terminating cable conductors. Performing splicing operations relating to the installation, rearrangement, and repair of outside plant facilities. This includes copper cable, wire, terminals, loop carrier electronics. -Locating and clearing troubles in outside plant facilities. -May work outdoors in all weather conditions. -Testing, locating, and repairing defects in wires for copper cables and digital carrier systems, using electrical and mechanical testing apparatus. -Repair and maintenance of copper cables.

What You Bring
-Fine motor skills and visual acuity is required for success. -Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity. Drive and operate a vehicle, and/or bucket. -Will need to be able to travel both within and out of state as required or as work ebbs and flows. -Requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand, bend, walk, communicate via telephone, computer and/or face-to-face contact, vision to monitor, and use basic office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and fax machines regularly during the course of work. -Repeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head 25 lbs continuously. -At least two years of experience in splicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing fiber optic and copper cable. -Understand staking sheets and blueprints. -Ability to distinguish the difference between colors. -High School Degree -Awareness of all Safety regulations for Line Companies; knowledge of all Utility, N.E.S.C., DOT and OSHA Safety Rules. -Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. -Four years of experience in the installation and/or repair of fiber-optic cable and other related telecommunications equipment. -Industry-recognized certification in splicing and testing copper and fiber optic cable. -May need to respond under stressful or urgent situations.
