The Role

Overview

Install/maintain underground distribution circuits and splice lead cables.

Tasks

-Install underground electric distribution systems of the lead, rubber and concentric neutral cable, including installation of duct systems which primarily feed electric service to large metropolitan areas. -Builds undergound vaults and stations which house the electric apparatus for the distribution systems. -Performs overhead line work and work associated with transmission and distribution substations as required. -Troubleshoot underground electrical faults. -Performs overhead line and substation work as required. -Splices and maintains lead as well as other cables. Instruct and train new personnel in the art of splicing. -Operate wench truck and pulling trailers as well as other equipment in the performance of duties as needed. -Performs necessary maintenance on vaults and stations which includes heaters, venting, transfer switches, sump pumps, transformers, and safety equipment. -Receive work direction and review from Substation Foreman, Line Supervisors, Substation and Underground Supervisor. -Directs the work of helpers who may assist the Cable Splicer in performing the work assigned. -Reads maps, blueprints, and specifications in the building, repairing and troubleshooting of underground distribution systems.

What You Bring

-CDL is required. -Must be a journeyman lineman. -Must successfully complete the Lead Cable Splicer Training Program and become certified in eighteen (18) months.
