Overview

Senior engineer designing stormwater, drainage, and water resources for TxDOT projects.

Tasks

-Overseeing project design activities, supervising production efforts, and mentoring junior level support staff and other designers -Reviewing project quantity estimates, details, and check calculations and drawings for compliance to project requirements -Preparing and assisting with the preparation of project schedules -Analyzing and designing hydrologic and hydraulic models for Transportation Improvement projects -Using computer engineering software to design stormwater management and storm drain systems, as well as soil erosion and sediment control systems -Preparing and assisting in the preparation of project construction details, quantities, cost estimates and project specifications -Assist with roadway project development and other misc. civil engineering tasks for project design and delivery -Collaborating across multiple disciplines, subconsultants, and other professionals to successfully deliver quality projects within budget and schedule -Collecting and analyzing data for inclusion in Project Plans and reports -Assisting and preparing project plans using OpenRoads Designer -Contributing to the preparation and/or modification of considerable scope and complexity engineering reports and calculations for a wide variety of projects

What You Bring

-Valid driver’s license -Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines -Previous TxDOT Drainage design experience and strong knowledge of TxDOT standards and procedures -Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering (Master’s in water resources fields a plus) -Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) preferred or the ability to acquire it within 6 months -Experience with OpenRoads Designer, Storm CAD, ICPR, HEC-RAS, GIS and/or SUDA software -10+ years of relative/progressive drainage/water resources and TxDOT experience -A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
