Tasks

The Manager of Application Development leads the software development process, managing project timelines and ensuring the delivery of high-quality applications. This role needs a mix of hands-on technical skills, people management, and project coordination. You will guide a team of software and web engineers to create and maintain applications and websites that meet our business goals and stakeholder needs. -Provide tier-three support for troubleshooting and maintaining AMLI applications. -Set and enforce policies and standards for development and quality assurance. -Coordinate the development team to meet project goals and deadlines. -Plan and manage projects from start to finish, ensuring all requirements and budgets are met. -Handle the RFP process and lead pilots for new software or systems. -Manage the health, security, and performance of AMLI’s application suite. -Manage Azure and cloud resources, ensuring cost efficiency and compliance with regulations. -Deliver software in coordination with the Application Development team using agile methods and tools. -Convert business needs into technical requirements and project plans. -Improve current applications and address opportunities for upgrades. -Research new technologies and trends that can help our application development and digital transformation. -Assess business cases and technology options to suggest effective solutions. -Promote and implement best practices in software design and development. -Work with business and technology leaders to find and design technology solutions that meet our goals. -Lead and develop a team of software and web engineers, creating a collaborative work environment. -Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and contractors.

What You Bring

AMLI Residential has a newly created role at our corporate office in Chicago. We are looking for a skilled Manager of Application Development to join our team. -Strong communication skills for interacting with employees at all levels and with external colleagues. -Proficient in Microsoft development tools (e.g., .NET, Blazor, SQL, DevOps) -Preferably a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field. -Ability to handle multiple complex projects under tight deadlines. -Experience in Microsoft Azure resource management -Strong skills in managing software development teams. -Experience in software development AI tools (e.g. Cursor, Code Rabbit) -Preferred experience in React, Next.js, and content management systems for web development. -At least five (5+) years of experience in software delivery roles with growing responsibilities. -Proficient in Microsoft applications (e.g., Windows OS, Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint)
