The Role

Overview

Manage EPC delivery for large transmission projects, overseeing schedule, cost, and contractor.

Tasks

-Track and report the EPC contractor’s progress. -Perform selected project management duties for the duration of the project. -Manage the review of the major equipment submittals. -Organize preparation of outage plans. -Track and provide input to the schedule. -Manage an EPC contractor for the duration of the project. -Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. -Track and report the EPC cost. -Manage the responses to RFIs. -Serve as an EPC asset delivery manager on a large transmission development program, from the award of the EPC contract to the commissioning and in-service date. -Organize and chair regular meetings with the EPC contractor. -Manage the review of the EPC engineering submittals. -Prepare and review cost estimates. -Review risks and quality issues and provide recommendations to WSP and Client leadership -Track and report the EPC schedule. -Coordinate the requirements with the Transmission Operators, owners of the remote substations. -Participate and respond to daily queries from the internal groups. -Maintain regular communications with the client including reporting on monthly status, safety incidents, and major issues together with scope and budget impacts. -Manage the interfaces with other parts of the project, such as permitting, transmission lines, underground infrastructure group, procurement, geotechnical, properties, system studies etc.

What You Bring

-Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related major, or equivalent experience in a technical or engineering firm. -15+ years of experience in Project Management with 10 years of large-scale utility or infrastructure project management experience -Able to work in a self-directed environment -Excellent self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adjusting readily to the changing prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. -Competence in analytical techniques in tackling technical problems with some complexity -Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. -Master’s Degree in Engineering -Project Management Professional certification -Advanced proficiency with critical thinking and problem-solving skills -Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), technology, spreadsheets, and PM tools. -Advanced proficiency with interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively, persuasively, and tactfully with leadership, subcontractors, and employees at all levels of the organization. -Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, subcontractors, consultants, and company-wide staff, including those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exists. -Strong experience in managing the review and approval of documents and discipline-specific project deliverables, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment is highly desirable. -This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP. -Effective leadership in a matrix organization. -Strong verbal and written communication skills
