Overview

Repair and maintain heavy diesel equipment for Ready Mix division in Metairie.

Tasks

-Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors. -Maintain an effective system of communication with supervisors and customers. -Maintain a safe and clean work area. -Diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment failures. Provide repair and maintenance to diesel and gasoline engines. Adjust and repair ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic and steering systems. Maintain and repair chassis, frames, and bodies. Work with hoisting and jacking equipment, power tools, measuring instruments, gauges and meters. Lubricate equipment. Maintain and repair tires, batteries, brakes, and valves. Perform shop management functions such as maintenance scheduling and spare parts inventory control; making estimates of material, labor, and equipment requirements.

What You Bring

-Must have good organizational skills, be able to meet strict deadlines, and document issues and procedures. -Must have a valid driver's license, Class A or B commercial driver’s license preferred -Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests. -Have basic computer proficiency and good verbal and written communication skills. -Physical Requirements: Requires working outdoors in all types of weather conditions. They may be required to work long and unpredictable hours. Must be able to stand for long periods on varied surfaces. Must be able to move freely, including the ability to stoop, crawl, and bend at the knees and waist. Must be able to lift 100 pounds unassisted. -High School diploma or equivalent preferred -Can work in a team atmosphere and learn new tasks -3 years experience directly related to the duties or mechanics school graduate (Heavy equipment diesel engines and transmissions)
