The Role

Overview

Operate and maintain HV/LV electrical network up to 33kV, ensuring safety and asset reliability.

Tasks

-Identify problems, understand important issues and investigate alternatives -Ensure all Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements are considered. -Ensure all relevant H&S Policy principles are briefed and implemented. -Meet and fulfil all UKPNS Health and Safety requirements. -Responsible for both reactive and planned maintenance activities -Provide technical and practical support as part of the team to deliver all planned works in addition to all Operations and Maintenance delivery requirements. -Oversee all contractors/staff working on site -Ensure compliance with CDM and UK Power Networks Health and Safety policies -Perform fault investigation and repairs. -Work unsocial hours to respond to system faults and complete maintenance activities -Ensure safe working methods and systems are followed in the design -Perform operational AP/ SAP/ Control tasks at 11kV (33kV) -Develop site specific H,S & E procedures -Ensure the compliance with the distribution safety rules during all activities. -Communicate H&S information within their organisation. Promote feedback on H&S matters. -Ensure contractual obligations are met -Plan and analyse work -Modify equipment and drawings to ensure the efficient operation of the substations -Operational works on electrical networks, for the contract and other areas. -Maintenance and testing of the 11kV (33kV) and LV Control and Protection Relays and Systems -Create a safe working environment for all staff and contractors supporting the business. -Mentor junior staff in all matters relating to Health & Safety aligned with their role. -Attend and contribute to team briefings, give feed-back -Operation and Maintenance of the HV/LV Client and UKPNS owned assets up to 11kV (33kV) including switchgear, transformers, isolators and switches. -Operate and update Asset database for work competed

What You Bring

-Educated to a minimum of ONC (HNC) level qualification, or equivalent, in Electrical Engineering -Read schematic and line drawings and understand content -Compliance with UK Power Networks quality policies -Experience in the Operational and maintenance of distribution systems up to 11kV (33kV) -11kv (33KV) operational Control Engineer or in training -Cleared Medical and Drugs and Alcohol screening -Relevant Safety Qualification such as IOSH -Track record within an Electrical distribution environment -Hold full UK driving licence -Strong interpersonal and customer facing skills
