Tasks

-Perform dimensional inspection of various products. -Enter commands or manually adjust machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining. -Clean machine, tooling, parts and add machine oil as needed. -Load control media, card, or disk, in machine controller or enter commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions from database. -Maintain high levels of personal and professional organization and housekeeping. -Discuss control media errors with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems. -Calculate and set machine controls to position spindle in relationship to part and to regulate factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow. -Install, align, and secure tooling, attachments, and parts on machine. -Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals and to improve safety, quality, cost, delivery, and productivity. -Comply with company drug policy and maintain the ability to pass a random drug screening. -Operate machine and monitor displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions. -Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and position tool holders in machine magazines. -Operate machine manually to perform non-automated functions. -Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures reporting all unsafe activities to Management and/or Human Resources. -Verify fixture setup meets acceptable quality standards regarding milling and boring sizes, depths, angles, or other specifications. -Stop machine to change cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications. -Protect confidential information by not communicating, disclosing to, or using for benefit of third parties. -Communicate effectively with subordinates and management at all levels.

What You Bring

Mitsubishi Power is seeking a Machinist based in our Savannah, GA location for second/weekend shift. The Machinist independently reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings and machining methods, and sequences. The regular work schedule is second/weekend shift, but new hires will complete training (3-6 months) on first shift. The employee is regularly required to stand and frequently required to talk or hear. They are regularly required to walk, sit, and use their hands and arms. They must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Hearing protection may be recommended and/or required in some areas. -Fluent in reading and understanding G and M Code -High school diploma, GED or equivalent. -Ability to hold tolerances down to 5 microns or equivalent (.0002 Inches/.005 Millimeters). -Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. -5 Years of machining experience to include load, unload or parts and tooling and basic inspections. -Applicants must be US Citizens of the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. -Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs. -Ability to pass routine background check and drug test per company policy. -Proficient with a range of measuring tools: micrometers, calipers, ID mics, bore gauges, dial indicators, test indicators, profilometers, and depth gauges. -2 Years of machining experience, technical certification or degree in a machining discipline, or equivalent. -Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for quality. -Associate's degree, certificate, or equivalent in a machining discipline from two-year college or technical school. -Proficient in the ability to run and operate machines equipped with FANUC controls. -Experience with the following Machines: Horizontal Mills, Vertical Mills, Lathes, Manual Mills, Surface Grinders, and EDMs. -Ability to read, write, comprehend and follow instructions, short correspondence and memos. -At least 18 years of age. -Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings to internal and external constituents. -2 Years experience on VTLs Preferred -Proficient in the ability to run and operate VTLs preferred. -Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. -Ability to operate and understand using both SAE and Metric units of measure.
