The Role

Overview

Operate drilling equipment to collect soil/rock samples for geotechnical investigations.

Tasks

-Investigate sub surface conditions, recognize and identify soil and rock types and material classification -Prepare tooling and supplies for the day’s tasks and loads/unloads/assembles/disassembles augers; trouble shoot drilling challenges -Responsible for drill rig transportation -Operate drilling equipment at shallow to moderate depths to perform complex site investigations -Train and direct Driller Assistants, identify and coordinate daily work schedules at job site -Clean and maintain equipment and perform site clean up -Direct site inquiries from general public to the project team -Retrieve / log samples and maintain record log of drilling activities

What You Bring

-High School Diploma or equivalent -Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound -Ability to climb occasionally, and work at various heights -Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time -2 years’ related geotechnical drilling experience -Ability to lift, move, push and pull up to 50 pounds frequently; Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance -Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures -Ability to work over night hours and off shift -Ability to kneel and squat occasionally -Travel up to 25% maximum -Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record is required -Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
