Processing Technician

Overview

Operate and optimize plastic injection molding press, ensure quality and safety.

Tasks

-Maintain a workable knowledge of and the ability to operate all the controls of a mold press, auxiliary equipment, and robots safely and correctly. -Perform process verification checks multiple times per shift and/or during process change. -Adjust mold presses to ensure quality standards are correct and maintained. -Train operators and mold group employees on start-up and shutdown of press when applicable. -Cross functional collaboration with engineering, quality and mold teams for continuous improvement, troubleshooting and root cause analysis. -Maintain injection molding set up sheets and quality control documents. -Assist with mold changes, color changes and material changes when needed and directed by supervisor. -Verify operation of secondary equipment such as chillers, thermo-units, and dryers. -Verify mold temperature, injection time, pressure, melt and dryer settings for repeatability/scrap reduction. -Maintain a safe and clean work environment while adhering to all safety policies and 5S procedures.

What You Bring

-Must be eager to learn, excited to work on a team, and have good written and verbal communication skills -Workable knowledge of and ability to use micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, gauge pins, impact tester and pressure test equipment. -At least 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment -Minimum 2 years of experience in injection molding or 1 year operating a mold press -Forklift certification (or ability to obtain) -Must be able to perform job responsibilities safely in a manufacturing environment. -Read and understand technical documentation and work instructions. -Requires good mobility and involves considerable routine walking, standing for long periods, bending, stooping, and lifting (to a maximum of 50 lbs). -Scientific molding or systematic troubleshooting techniques for optimizing cycle times, minimizing defects and supporting mold trials -Effective communication and teamwork abilities -Understand mold press technical terms. -Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills -High school diploma or equivalent -Willingness to complete an Injection Molding Certification course (Paulson, A. Routsis, or equivalent)
