The Role

Overview

Inspect, maintain and repair tram track infrastructure for safe, reliable service.

Tasks

-Accountable for attending, assessing and fixing emergency track faults when reported. Accountable for confirmation that all works are completed, that they have been undertaken in line with LT standards and declaring the track as fit for service. -Manage contractors undertaking track maintenance activities including rail stressing, re-railing, ballast dropping, kango packing, track tamping and rail grinding. Monitor and provide assurance that the works are carried out to the requirements and that the asset if fit for service. -Responsible for reporting and monitoring any deficiencies or deterioration in asset condition along with proposed re-mediation and timescales such that suitable intervention or renewal can be scheduled. -Install and maintain S&C, expansion switches, lubricators and fishplates. -Responsible for installing, commissioning, inspecting and maintaining sprung and electrical points mechanisms and for ensuring points are fully functional and operating safely before offering for service. -Responsible for ensuring that track is monitored during hot weather and applying appropriate controls and mitigations where required to ensure the ongoing safe operation of the tramway. -Responsible for undertaking track patrols to inspect the condition and integrity of all track assets in line with LT standards and for producing inspection reports detailing any faults found with details on rectification required to ensure the asset condition is supportive of a safe, reliable and efficient service to passengers. -Undertake other safety critical duties such as lookout, worksite supervisor and possession supervisor.

What You Bring

-Able to explain requirements concisely and influence others to cooperate with the requirements for the business. -National Certificate in Engineering or similar (Desirable) -Knowledge of the principles of tramway / railway safety processes and procedures (Desirable) -Analytical approach to data management and problem solving. High levels of accuracy and attention to detail. -Ability to communicate effectively. -Proven experience of working in the track environment -Use of Microsoft Office standard packages. -An adaptable and flexible approach to work, capable of adjusting priorities to respond to daily challenges and opportunities. -Safety Critical Licenses for Track Inspection and Track Handback (Desirable) -In-depth knowledge of track tools and equipment, construction, inspection, and maintenance techniques (Essential) -Safety Critical Points Mech Inspection and maintenance license (Desirable) -Mechanical and Civil Engineering skills relevant to Track. -Possess a clean, full driving license as you may be required to drive company vehicles on an ad-hoc basis (Essential) -LT AP License Holder (Desirable) -LT TPS/TWS License holder (Essential) -Use of SAP or similar systems is desirable. -Experienced in the maintenance of records and maintenance of an audit trail. -Use of electronic asset management and collaborative working systems is desirable. -Knowledge of safe working and the HASAWA (Essential)
