Forklift Operator/ Pipe Yard

Overview

Operate forklifts to move pipe, handle inventory, and maintain safety in a fast-paced warehouse.

Tasks

-Pick, receive, and put away product in designated areas -Maintains cleanliness of the overall facility to support safety standards, with an emphasis on the area assigned to the work-group. -Receives orders through supervisor from prepared and prioritized work tags. -Use RF scanners to accurately track inventory movement -Help maintain a clean and organized work area -Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a cooperative manner with customers, co-workers and managers. -Looks up part numbers, quantities, product locations, and customer information on the computer, as appropriate. -Refills shelves and racks from overstock, as needed. -Ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with company productivity standards -Operate equipment such as order picker, stand up and/or reach lift, Combi lift. -Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move large pipe and related materials -Pulls orders from inventory, manually and/or utilizing forklift. -The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. -Utilize an RF scanner for daily tasks

What You Bring

-Warehouse, plumbing, retail/customer service and forklift experience is also desirable, but not required. -Prolonged periods of standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer. -Knowledge of warehouse software packages and MS Office proficiency. -Specific vision abilities required for this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. -Ability to lift items that weigh up to 50 lbs. regularly. This includes carrying, dragging, and walking with materials, as well as using a hand-truck. -Strong verbal and written communication skills. -Detail oriented with excellent follow up practices. -Dependable and able to thrive in a physically active role -Experience operating forklifts (pipe yard or heavy material handling experience a plus) -Basic knowledge and proper use of the English language, including reading, writing, and oral communications. -Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. -High school diploma/GED or equivalent education required. Two or Four-Year college degree in logistics, supply chain management or business administration is preferred. -Ability to recognize and read location, date, and product codes. -A strong attention to detail and commitment to safety -Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills -Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors) -Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment. -Ability to input, retrieve and analyze data. -Ability to work daily overtime as needed
