Tasks

-Mentor and support colleagues, helping to strengthen analytical standards and the effective communication of complex insights. -Steer collaboration across NESO’s technical teams, convening modellers, analysts, and experts to deliver joined-up perspectives at pace. -Prepare and review materials presented in high-level industry discussions, policy roundtables, and technical forums, ensuring NESO’s contributions are evidence-based and strategically impactful. -Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders in government, regulatory bodies, and industry, ensuring NESO’s insights are respected and acted upon. -Be accountable for the quality, credibility, and influence of NESO’s whole energy insights, ensuring they shape government policy, regulatory direction, and industry strategy. -Represent NESO in select high-level discussions and external forums, presenting with authority where appropriate. -Provide technical stewardship across NESO’s insight portfolio — reviewing, challenging, and strengthening analytical outputs to ensure robustness, clarity, and impact.

What You Bring

-Ability to look across research and identify the overarching narrative or visual that brings clarity and elevates the impact of NESO’s insights with senior decision-makers. -Thrive in ambiguity, form original viewpoints, and confidently articulate evidence-based perspectives with authority. -Able to provide direction and challenge to multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring outputs are technically robust and strategically relevant. -Strong network across the energy sector; adept at building trust and credibility, and ensuring NESO’s insights are valued in decision-making. -Skilled at creating order out of complexity and turning analysis into actionable insights. -Degree in engineering, energy systems, or a related technical field. Comparable expertise gained through economics, policy, or market-focused roles in the energy transition will also be considered. -Exceptional ability to critically review and strengthen outputs, bringing rigour, clarity, and strategic impact. -Proven ability to engage and influence at senior levels (government, regulators, C-suite). Skilled at distilling complex technical and policy insights into clear, actionable recommendations. -Significant experience working across energy vectors; demonstrable track record of delivering robust, evidence-based insights into complex energy system issues. -Strong engagement skills and able to build credibility at the highest levels. -Excellent writing, speaking, and presentation skills, with the ability to ensure NESO’s insights are trusted and influential. -Recognised by peers and stakeholders for your technical expertise and ability to shape debate through the strength of your analysis and advice.
