The Role

Overview

Install, cut, bend, weld, and test piping systems in shop fabrication projects.

Tasks

-Sit, stoop, crawl, stand, and kneel. -Perform trial runs and tests on pipe systems. -Install piping or tubing segments securely with welding or other equipment. -Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1-50 pounds, 50% of the time monthly for required tasks. -Precisely cut, bend, and weld metals such as carbon and stainless steel. -Ensure all steam, water, chemicals, or other liquids are turned off before working on the piping system. -Ensure pipe sizes, hangers, supports, and joint needs for accurate flow. -Clean and clear debris and hazardous materials from pipes as needed. -Cut and alter the piping to ensure the correct sizes. -Repair and reinforce broken, cracked, or inadequate systems or pipes. -Consult with job site management for hole placements in walls and bulkheads. -Climbing up and down stairs and ladders to both get in and out of trenches and up to elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights). -Configure pipe systems blueprint and plan piping systems layouts.

What You Bring

-Must be 18 years of age or older. -Three years’ experience as a pipefitter or pipefitter apprenticeship preferred. -Thread, weld, solder piping together. -Walking on uneven terrain, with an average of two miles per day. -Knowledge of local, state, and federal building code regulations regarding piping systems -Fit and move in confined spaces including tanks and vessels. -Must meet all state license requirements. -Exposure to noise above 85 decibels and intense odors -OSHA 10 preferred. -If driving is required, a valid driver’s license and proof of insurability will be required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search. -Accurate and precise attention to detail. -Working outside most of the time with potential exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures. -Use of respirator if position requires. -High school degree or equivalent educational experience; vocational school or trade apprenticeship required. -You must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment.
