Tasks

-Acts as a mentor to less experienced designers. -Communicates with clients as needed for the development and coordination of requirements and scope of work. -Occasionally visits job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress. -Supports answering questions from clients and architects. -Shares time, effort, and consideration with others. -Maintains best practice throughout all job functions. -Research and reviews new products, industry trends and evolving codes and standards. -Participates in client, company and/or industry events to build and maintain professional relationships. -Keeps up with industry and/or discipline standards. -Prepares or modifies reports, plans and designs for projects. -Engages others when tackling an unfamiliar task or responsibility. -Delivers on client expectations. -Keeps others informed conveying information clearly and with an appropriate level of detail. -Prepares system layouts, detailed drawings and schematics. -Fosters a client-centric mindset and approach. -Supports business development or pursuit activities. -Performs calculations and designs basic engineering systems in collaboration with experienced design staff. -Identifies and seeks to fill gaps in industry and/or discipline knowledge on a continuous basis. -Takes steps to ensure work is done correctly. -Reviews shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications.

What You Bring

-Ability to receive constructive feedback and adjust to coaching. -Maintains knowledge and understanding of common industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office products. -Additional certifications and accreditations aligned with the relevant technical field (e.g., BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, RCDD, etc.) preferred. -Recognizes routine problems and identify solutions. -Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer. -Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills. -High technical aptitude: ability to learn, understand and utilize various systems and processes. -Proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam Revu preferred. -Team oriented and willingness and ability to function in a highly collaborative environment, in group projects and leading less experienced designers. -Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and engineering design software applicable to your discipline or focus. -Bachelor's degree in relevant field of engineering (i.e.: mechanical, electrical, fire protection or architectural) and 1 year of relevant experience or 4 years of experience with high school diploma or equivalent is required. -Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred. -Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described and characterized in this job description. -Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels in a clear and concise manner. -Occasional travel may be required (10-15%). -Basic proficiency in engineering design: basic knowledge of the A&E industry, codes, design guides and standards. Knowledge may be applicable to a limited range of practice, project or program types. -Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
