Job Summary: As a System Designer III at IEF, you will be accountable for developing concepts, designs, and details for façade systems, including materials, shapes, and attachment methods. The SD3 will collaborate closely with structural and thermal engineers to ensure that the design meets project requirements and comply with structural and environmental needs. They will also coordinate and present their designs to the design team and consultants, ensuring alignment with the overall project vision. Additionally, the SD3 will oversee the design process through to the successful completion of a Performance Mockup.

  • Responsible for supporting training for our junior designers/SD1
  • Develop concept, design and details for the façade system which may include materials, shapes and attachments.
  • Work closely with the structural and thermal engineers to make sure the design meets the project requirements.
  • Coordinate and present design to the design team and consultant

ADA Requirements: The position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods while using a computer, along with sufficient manual dexterity to operate computers, mobile devices, and related IT equipment. The role may occasionally involve lifting or moving equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, as well as bending, crawling, or climbing—such as accessing under desks or server racks. Candidates must possess the ability to concentrate, troubleshoot, and solve problems in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills. The role also demands effective task prioritization, management of multiple simultaneous support requests, and a capacity to quickly learn and adapt to evolving technologies and tools.

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Architecture
  • Must possess 7-10 years of experience in design within the curtain wall industry.
  • Knowledge of curtain wall and exterior façade systems
  • Solid understanding of structural and thermal requirements, and good practices for assembly and installation.
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams)
  • Revu Bluebeam
  • Rhino – Beneficial, not required
  • Good understanding of materials, both construction materials and materials commonly used in curtain wall
  • Navisworks - Preferred, not required
  • Creative thinking with problem solving abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
