The Role

Overview

Conduct field testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt at construction sites in IN and KY

Tasks

-Relays information to project manager and/or engineer, with limited in-field decision making. -Enters daily field observation reports and summary reports electronically. -Performs construction-related field tests as directed by the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Manager and Senior Engineer. -Follows Atlas’ safety plans, programs, policies, and procedures. -Assists other technicians or professional staff on tasks and assists other departments as necessary. -Transports equipment, test specimens and/or documents to field personnel, laboratory, clients or other offices, and provides physical assistance in equipment set-up. -Performs field density testing on soil, concrete, asphalt and other construction materials. -Performs field quality control tests of in place concrete.

What You Bring

-Physical strength, stamina and dexterity to lift and move 70 lbs, stoop, bend, and stand throughout the course of up to a 12-hours a workday in varying weather conditions in varying terrain. -Work toward and achieve American Concrete Institute (ACI) Level 1 certification within six months of employment. -Travels to various construction sites primarily throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana, with the potential for overnight and/or weekend as needed. -High school diploma or equivalent. Continued education, college degree, and/or degree in technical fields a plus. -INDOT Soil Testing Certification preferred -Must be willing to travel within Kentucky and Indiana as required by assignments. INDOT Soil Testing Certification -Valid driver’s license. -Experience with concrete, soils, and asphalt testing is preferred.
