Tasks

-Receive, review, and process building permit applications, plans, and supporting documents for completeness and accuracy. -Issue approved building permits, Certificates of Occupancy, and other related documents. -Provide exceptional customer service in person, by phone, and via email. -Coordinate plan reviews between applicants and reviewing departments. -Provide information to contractors, homeowners, and the public regarding permitting requirements, fees, and inspection procedures. -Assist with scheduling building inspections and maintaining inspection records. -Assess and collect permit and impact fees. -Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with applicable City and State regulations. -Input permit data into the City's permitting software and maintain accurate electronic and physical records.

What You Bring

-Knowledge of the Florida Building Code and municipal development procedures. -Excellent customer service representative skills. -Proficient Microsoft Office skills. -Previous experience in a Florida municipal or county Building Department -Bilingual in English and Spanish or Creole a plus. -Possess the ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clientele. -ICC Permit Technician and other certifications are a bonus -Strong communication skills both written and verbal. -Good time management, organization, telephone, attention to detail, and people skills.
