Tasks
-Stamp engineering calculations / drawings / documents as required. -Develop and/or review/approve tiein lists and line lists. -Execute technical bid evaluations (TBE's) for equipment. -Manage and execute mechanical engineering deliverables on multiple projects in a dynamic work environment. -Define and manage scope requirements including manhour estimates, budgets, schedules, and design basis document development. -Leads the preparation and coordination of project specifications and other related documents. -Utilizes technologies in development of models of mechanical systems and provides markups for junior engineers/ designers. -Leads project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and subcontractors. -Support the development of construction contracts and the tender/analysis/award process. -Participate in client project requirement meetings, project value analysis and cost estimating. -Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats. -Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job. -Participate in client/vendor/contractor meetings including HAZOP, 3D model reviews, constructability and design reviews. -Prepare and/or review/approve mechanical equipment specifications, datasheets and procurement support documents. -Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the mechanical group. -Develop and/or review/approve Construction Work Packages (CWP’s). -Evaluates, selects, specifies and engineers all mechanical engineered systems or products for a project and assuring work is reviewed for overall technical accuracy -Performs and/or reviews and approves engineering calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software. -Work as a contributing team member within a multidiscipline team -Ensure appropriate reference material is utilized at all times. -Develop and/or review/approve mechanical drawings (isometrics, general arrangements, and P&ID's). -Establish and maintain positive client relationships.

-Willingness to go the ‘extra mile’ to support projects, clients and fellow employees. -Employs engineering experience supporting projects from conception through construction. -Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and a proven ability to write clear, thorough technical reports. -Proven mentoring skills and desire to work with and encourage junior staff. -Detailed understanding of project deliverables such as Process Flow Diagram, P&IDs, Isometrics, General Arrangements, etc. -Understand and execute and/or direct work within Stantec's quality control guidelines including quality assurance and quality control on projects. -Available for travel within Canada for short durations 25 days (as required) -Demonstrated ability to handle multiple jobs/projects. -Project management experience is an asset -Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others. -Mechanical Engineering Degree with at least 5+ years professional experience -Comply with Stantec's EH&S program, with a focus on safety in the field. -Detailed understanding of various process equipment used in energy such as vessels, tanks, heat exchangers & coolers, heaters, rotating equipment (pumps and compressors), packaged equipment, valves & specialty items. -Knowledge of fabrication and construction techniques and processes. -Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards. -Understanding of material selection to support design of process piping and equipment. -Strong consulting skills including ability to provide project status and results to clients through frequent contact and followup. -Strong Understanding of industry standards and applicable ASME, CSA, API, ANSI, NACE codes and standards. -Knowledge of and ability to use standard computer applications including, but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft project, etc. -Ability to review and check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills -Eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in provinces across Canada.
