The Role

Overview

Develop and manage sourcing strategies for commodities, negotiate contracts, ensure supply quality.

Tasks

-Manage supplier relationships, performance, and development through key metrics—on-time delivery, cost savings, quality performance, and responsiveness. -Partner with Finance and Operations to track commodity spend, evaluate total cost of ownership (TCO), and support budgeting. -Monitor market trends, raw material pricing, and global supply chain risks, adjusting strategies proactively. -Lead RFQ, RFP, and bid processes, analyze proposals, and negotiate contracts to achieve best value and risk mitigation. -Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality to ensure materials meet technical specifications and manufacturability requirements. -Maintain supplier contracts, purchase agreements, and compliance documentation. -Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned commodities and categories that support GTI’s operational goals, cost targets, and quality standards. -Identify, qualify, and manage strategic suppliers for materials such as steel, aluminum, electrical components, and modular fabrication parts. -Forecast material demand and align procurement strategies with production schedules, project timelines, and inventory objectives. -Work is performed in both office and manufacturing floor environments. -Identify cost-reduction and value-engineering opportunities through alternative sourcing, design changes, and process improvement. -Drive continuous improvement in sourcing processes, supplier management, and data accuracy within ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).

What You Bring

-Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field. -May require occasional travel to supplier sites, GTI facilities, or trade shows. -7+ years of progressive procurement or sourcing experience, preferably within manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial construction environments. -Knowledge of metal market trends, tariffs, and international logistics. -Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills. -Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPIM, PMP, or related credentials. -Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (NetSuite preferred) and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and cost modeling. -Experience in supplier development, audits, and sustainability initiatives. -Experience sourcing for modular fabrication, defense, or energy storage systems. -Proven success managing commodity categories such as steel, metals, electrical components, fasteners, or mechanical assemblies. -Experience developing supplier performance scorecards and executing improvement plans. -Strong negotiation, contract management, and analytical skills. -Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and how sourcing impacts production flow and inventory optimization.
