The Role

Overview

Supervises a crew performing land surveying and layout tasks for construction projects.

Tasks

-Coordinates findings with engineering and architectural personnel -Prepare proper information for layout and grading. -Manage Crew in regard to processes, scheduling, costs, employee relations issues, and employment needs (Instrument man & Rodman) -Determines methods and procedures for best establishing or reestablishing survey control -Prepare proper information for layout and grading and reviewing blueprints, layouts and calculated figures for errors. -Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks. -May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs. -Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools. -Daily and weekly statistics and time sheets. -Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off of platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements. -Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.

What You Bring

-Demonstrate knowledge of surveyor processes for an industrial construction site. -Good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors. -Former Zachry Employee. -Ability to read prints and construction drawings. -Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE. -Must be able to perform calculations. -Must be proficient in managing crew, time, and costs. -Must be able to operate a Trimble S-6 Robotic Total Station -Must have good leadership and communication skills. -Organization and time management. -Demonstrated ability to lead others and provide detailed instructions. -Ability to work independently – minimal supervision. -Must have experience on the new construction site. -Demonstrated industrial construction/maintenance history experience. -Good problem-solving abilities. -Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting. -Must have 5+ years working as a surveyor. -Must have 1+ year’s supervisory experience. -Should be proficient with modern surveying equipment including GPS, Total Stations, Robotic Stations, Data Collectors and software -Basic Computer efficiency -Will talk and hear to communicate. -Formal/technical education. -Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and manufacturers manuals and instructions. -Ability to work with others – team player.
