Tasks
-Monitor material quality and provide feedback to suppliers -Manage procurement for specific sites from start to finish (cradle to grave) -Support supplier price negotiations, influence reductions, and advise on potential cost increases -Ensure timely resolution of invoice queries for month-end processing -Influence construction decisions to minimise costs and manage spend effectively -Plan and schedule material deliveries for new sites -Assist in managing material specification changes and integration -Purchase materials in line with site specifications and development drawings -Reduce construction overheads through rate renegotiation and minimising material wastage -Procure new products and manage rebate reclamation -Monitor supplier performance and proactively manage any issues -Assist in growing the supply chain with innovative suppliers offering cost savings -Compile site comparisons, request additional discounts, and negotiate free-of-charge items to enhance supplier value

Are you a commercially aware professional ready to make a real impact on a leading house builder's projects? We are recruiting a motivated and commercially aware Assistant Buyer to join our commercial team, in the North Midlands. This role is key to delivering the full procurement process across all sites, ensuring materials are purchased on time, within budget, and to specification. You will play a pivotal role in growing our supply chain, reducing costs, and improving overall construction efficiency. -Strong negotiation skills -HND (desirable) -Highly motivated and proactive -Ability to read and understand specifications and working drawings -ONC, HNC, or equivalent, or qualified by experience -Full understanding of the build process and material delivery timelines -Excellent time management and organisational skills -Strong literacy and numerical skills -Sound decision-making and commercial awareness -Previous experience in a procurement environment -Excellent communicator
