The Role

Overview

Entry-level construction, maintenance, and repair of electric transmission systems.

Tasks

-Frequently works with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others. -Stringing overhead wire. -Setting poles and anchors. -Maintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.

What You Bring

-Must be familiar with induced voltage. -Capable of making up and using a hand line. -Understand basic rigging, hand lines, and lineman knot tying. -Possesses knowledge of pole framing, setting and removal. -Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather. -Must be able to follow Company safety rules and all other Company policies. -Understands DOT requirements (pre-trip/post trip inspections, etc.) -Capable of learning basic knowledge of materials used in line work. -Understands flag and tag procedures. -Capable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape. -Understands proper use and care of ladders. -Able to learn to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so. -Capable of safely setting a pole. -Possess a basic knowledge on safe use of chain saw, bush axe, etc. -Able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License. -Possesses a basic working knowledge of de-energized line work. -Able to assist with structure assemble and disassembly. -Possesses knowledge of proper work zone set up. -Understands proper use and maintenance of hand tools. -Able to assist in pole framing, setting, and removal. -Able to travel long distances on short notice, when required. -Understands minimum approach distance. -Willing to work over-time when requested -Willing to work outside of the normal work schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required for the position. -Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs. -Capable of receiving and following directions. -Understands when to wear personnel protective equipment. -Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized transmission work. -Able to perform rigorous physical labor. -Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces. -Understands basic rigging techniques. -Understands proper use of company radio. -Understands personal protective equipment requirements and wears PPE when and how it is needed. -Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required. -Possesses a basic knowledge of cover up. -Understand the proper use and maintenance of hand tools. -Understands the basic concepts of equipment set up and grounding. -Understands how and when to use Kellum grips. -Capable of properly inspecting rubber goods, covers and PPE. -Able to identify different types of materials used in line work. -Understands the basic concepts of grounding procedures.
