Daily care of beef herd, managing health, nutrition, breeding, and farm operations.

Tasks

-Animal Health & Welfare: Monitor the condition and health of cattle and pigs, treating signs of illness or injury, administering vaccinations and medications, and liaising with veterinarians when necessary. -Shipping & Receiving: Manage the arrival and departure of cattle, including scanning EID tags. -Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of treatments, weights, and movements using digital systems. -Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain farm machinery including tractors and telehandlers. -Team Collaboration: Work closely with the team to foster a positive working environment and support biodiversity and conservation goals. -Breeding & Calving: Support breeding programmes, monitor pregnant cattle, and assist during calving. -Attention to detail in monitoring herd health and operations. -Husbandry: Perform routine tasks such as tagging, handling, and moving cattle with minimal stress. Includes calf rearing and disbudding for younger animals. -Farm Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of buildings, pens, and equipment to uphold biosecurity standards. -Feeding & Nutrition: Ensure animals have sufficient feed and fresh water. Tasks include weighing and mixing feed, operating feeding machinery (e.g. TMR mixer wagons), and managing rotational grazing systems. -Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, communicating work programmes as needed.

What You Bring

-Level 2 Apprenticeship or Diploma in Agriculture (or equivalent) desirable. -Proficiency with farm technology and digital record-keeping. -First aid qualification. -Full manual driving licence; telehandler certification may be required. -Experience in conservation management and grassland care. -Understanding of organic farming principles (advantageous but not essential). -Strong communication skills across all levels and with external partners. -Knowledge of land-based health & safety and biosecurity practices. -Willingness to work irregular hours as needed. -Previous experience working with livestock, especially cattle.
