The Role

Lead lighting tech manages crew, schedules, budgets, and operates stage lighting systems.

Tasks
-Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships, by developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time; -Manage employees and the weekly scheduling of all department crew; -Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support; -Assist the Technical Director and Technical Services in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance routines and inspections; -Ensure all departmental designs, equipment, systems, functions, procedures, show tracks, maintenance and inspections logs, special projects, etc. are properly and adequately documented; -Work with technical management, artistic staff and stage management staff to support their needs during rehearsals, trainings and performances; -Run department cue tracks and consoles for performances, artistic training and maintenance; -Lead collaboration efforts for special projects, including the research, purchasing, construction and installation of show elements, and other projects that may fall within the department’s specialty, as directed; Maintain flexible schedule for such projects; -Assist with departmental budget, ordering and receiving of goods needed for operations; -Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training; -Work with technical management to establish and maintain training and backup plans to ensure continuity of performance operations in the event of unexpected failure of a system, component or piece of equipment; -Develop a thorough knowledge of department equipment specific to the production, to operate and maintain equipment safely; -Maintain cue track documentation and participate in cue track rotation; -Operate and maintain, including some programming, complex systems consisting of multiple computers, consoles, fixtures, dimmers, associated networks, and other stage-related equipment; -Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods;

What You Bring
-Ability to obtain OSHA 30 course completion card; -Fluent in English, both written and spoken; -ETCP Certification an asset; -Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts; -Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook); -Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including Ethernet and wireless technology (TCIP/IP, UDP, Switches, Firewalls.); -Working knowledge of lighting-specific software and systems such as GrandMA 3, ETC Paradigm, Vectorworks, Lightwright, Moving Light Assistant, Pangolin Beyond, Madrix, Capture, and Zactrack an asset; -Professional appearance and demeanor; -Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs unassisted, etc.; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions; -Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays; -Ability support the integration and program Special Events; -Previous experience working with maintenance programs; -Ability to operate or train to operate various lifts and heavy equipment like forklifts; -Working maintenance and operational knowledge of various types of moving lights, LED static lights, lasers and atmospherics; -Comprehension of basic principles of AC/DC electricity, basic electronics, MIDI and DMX; -At least five years of previous experience operating and maintaining lighting systems and equipment in a large-scale theatrical or concert production; -Verification of the right to work in the United States for Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, as demonstrated by completion of the Form I-9 upon hire and the submission of acceptable documentation (as noted on the Form I-9) verifying one’s identity and work authorization. -Strong understanding of digital test equipment for troubleshooting and repairs;
