Principal Highway Design Engineer

Tasks

-Identify and responding to project commercial risks and opportunities. -Checking, reviewing and overseeing the work of others. -Providing technical guidance on highway infrastructure projects. -Liaise with key clients and be capable of discussing design / technical solutions to stakeholders including technical and non-technical Clients. -Support the business in winning work including representing the business at networking events, preparing bids and tenders and establish, maintain and develop relationships with existing and prospective internal and external clients. -Liaising with Practice Managers, ensuring that projects are sufficiently resourced. -Delegating work to team members, programming deliverables and monitoring progress. -Mentoring and coaching team members and taking responsibility for the technical development of staff. -Developing works cost estimates.

What You Bring

-Experience/knowledge of the design and design process involved in highways and active travel schemes. -BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering or Professionally Qualified, or near qualified at Chartered or Incorporated Engineer Level. -Proven ability to coach and develop team members. -Self-motivated and able to work both single-handedly as well as within a larger multi-discipline team in directing and managing packages of work to completion. -A willingness to work flexibly to deliver projects to time and budget. -Solving engineering problems. -Experience of pricing and bidding on tender opportunities. -Project Management and or Highways Discipline Management experience. -Proven ability to advise clients on technical matters.
