Overview

Prepare and serve coffee beverages, provide customer service, and manage café operations.

Tasks

-Maintain a friendly and engaging attitude while interacting with customers and fellow team members. -Cleans and sanitizes service and seating areas. -Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, blended coffee, and tea, to patrons; correctly customizes orders as requested. -Receives and processes customer payments. -Ensures customer service stations are properly stocked with paper products or beverage preparation items. -Stocks supplies or retail products; may inventory, order, or receive products as directed. -Describes product details to customers in partnership with Onyx coffee. -Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas. -Ensures proper functioning of freezers, refrigerators, and heating by routinely checking temperatures in that equipment. -Serves prepared baked goods including pastries. -Accurately handle POS transactions and orders, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in a high-paced setting.

What You Bring

-Good memory to manage multiple orders simultaneously and recall faces, names, and preferences of frequent patrons. -Experience working in both counter-service and full-service settings is a plus. -Must successfully complete training in food preparation, food service skills, and customer service procedures. -1-2 years of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within hospitality or food service. -Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs with ability to learn in house programs. -CA Food Handler’s Permit required. -Experience with POS systems such as Toast, Square, Shopify or similar a plus. -Ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices. -Self-motivated and able to make decisions and exercise prudent judgement with minimal guidance. -Previous barista training or willingness to learn espresso and coffee preparation is preferred. -Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills. -Ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently, and kindly. -Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team with internal departments, external vendors, suppliers, and customers.
