The Role

Overview

Supervises pipe installation crew, handles cutting, assembly, testing, and safety.

Tasks

-Mounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hold pipe. -Cuts pipe using pipe cutter, pipe saw, power tools (band saw), and pipe cutting machine. -Threads pipe using threading machine. -Conducts field layout of piping system and calculates offsets, miters, and fittings as required -Observes and complies with all safety and project rules and all company policies and procedures -Ensure compliance with safety procedures and conduct safe start meetings with the crew daily -Secures pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools. -Assists foreman in planning the sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers. -Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and valves, according to job specifications. -Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings, using threaded, wrapped, soldering, brazen, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools.
