Tasks

-Responsible and accountable for the safety of all co-workers and any others the incumbent comes in contact with. -Maintains and updates vendor files for various construction materials and subcontractors. -Coordinates with subcontractors and vendors to make sure quotes are received by date, preferably before final review date, and are in compliance with bid form and per plan specifications. -Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies and procedures and is subject to appropriate disciplinary action (including dismissal) for failure to do so. -Conducts investigation of potential project site accompanied by job sponsor. -Reports any and all violations of applicable laws, regulations, or Company policies and procedures promptly and is subject to appropriate disciplinary action (including dismissal) for failure to do so. -Assists in the review and analysis of bid documents for items relating to project risk, cost, or company capability. -Responsible and accountable for incumbent's own personal safety. -Prepares listing of bid items for review by the Project Management Team. -Supervises preparation of man-hours and unit production for the various items in the project. -Assists in the establishment of proper sequencing of construction labor requirements and productivity. -Organizes estimates, quotations, notes, plans, and other pertinent data for final pre-bid review and leads discussion of individual bid items. -Prepares all bid documents and arranges in work sheet form. -Performs quantity surveys to develop a basis for cost estimates/pricing. -All employees, current and former, must maintain confidentiality by not disclosing to others any confidential, proprietary, or trade secret information belonging to the Company. -Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance with State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs. -Works as a key member of the Project Management Team helping to ensure success in the bid estimation process for marine construction projects. -Contacts all material suppliers and subcontractors involved in a given project and solicits quotations on needed bid items. -Collects all quotations and enters data into the project management information system regarding quote and survey information.

What You Bring

-The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. -The incumbent must be able to travel to potential project areas, maintain a current passport, possess strong computer skills, and have the ability to interface well with employees at all levels of the organization. -A minimum of five (5) years estimating experience in marine construction or a related industry is required. Ideally, the incumbent must have familiarization with Project Estimating, Marine Construction Materials, Procurement, Construction Estimating, Scheduling, Project Tracking Software, Cost Control, Project Standards, and Safety & Environmental Compliance. B.S. in Civil Engineering/Construction Management or related discipline is preferred. -The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes a hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and the location the work is being done. -The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstances of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel. Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise. -This individual must also have the ability to identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of management including corporate. -Authorized and obligated to stop work on any task or series of tasks whenever an unsafe condition or situation is anticipated or observed.
