Tasks
This opportunity has arisen as part of an expansion of a multidisciplinary engineering function supporting critical national infrastructure. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the design integrity, reliability and safety justification of complex civil and structural systems that operate in a highly regulated, high-hazard environment. -Manage design changes, concessions and supporting documentation through due process. -Produce and maintain Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) schedules and associated documentation. -Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and building services engineers to deliver integrated solutions. -Author, develop and assess Design Substantiation Documents for major civil and structural assets. -Present design substantiations to internal review panels and technical assurance groups. -Develop robust technical justifications for structural design modifications in high-hazard environments. -Review technical reports, safety submissions and provide expert civil/structural input to multidisciplinary teams.

What You Bring
Do you have the expertise to design and justify civil and structural systems that safeguard one of the UK’s most strategically important nuclear facilities? Are you ready to take your civil engineering expertise into one of the UK’s most technically challenging and rewarding environments? *Due to the nature of the projects all applicants MUST be born in the UK.* Can you demonstrate hands-on experience producing and reviewing technical substantiation for reinforced concrete and steel structures under safety-critical or high-hazard conditions? -Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related discipline). -Experience contributing to multidisciplinary engineering projects. -Experience in marine, defence, nuclear or other high-hazard industries -Knowledge of relevant design codes and standards for safety-critical structures. -This full-time position (40 hours per week) is based on a secure site within a technically advanced infrastructure environment. You’ll be working within an embedded engineering team providing design assurance, safety justification and technical support to ongoing operations and future development programmes. Due to the nature of the work, the role requires candidates eligible for Security Check (SC) clearance. -Incorporated Engineer status (or equivalent experience). -Chartered Engineer status. -Familiarity with safety case development techniques such as HAZID/HAZOP. -Minimum 5 years’ experience in the design and assessment of reinforced concrete and steel structures. -Proven experience producing robust technical justifications for design modifications.
