The Role
Overview
Install, test, and maintain protection & control equipment for high‑voltage utility systems.

Tasks
-Installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relay equipment, powerline carrier equipment, digital fault recorders (DFR’s), remote terminal units (RTU’s), and communication processors. -Accurately completes time and expense reports along with maintaining good condition of assigned company vehicle. -Accurately reviewing, documenting, and submitting test reports used for client reporting and regulatory purposes. -Functional testing for protection and control circuitry associated with transmission lines, HV bus, transformer, circuit breaker, feeder, reactors, and capacitor banks.

What You Bring
-Pass pre-employment drug test, and periodic unannounced drug tests -Experience with substation RTU’s, communication processors, and telecom equipment for both brownfield and greenfield projects. -Desired experienced with GE microprocessor relays such as C30, D60, F35, L90, T35 and T60. -Interpret one line, three line, wiring, schematic diagrams, communication configurations with ability to recognize and bring attention to discrepancies. -Ideal candidate will have 5+ years experience in the electrical testing industry with a focus working with protection and control equipment, RTU’s, and telecom with HV utility, co-op, power generation, federal, or municipal clients. -Familiar with NERC CIP requirements. -Work overtime as needed and willingness to travel extensively to client work locations -Should be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam when required -Required experienced with various RTU’s and communication processors such as GE, Telvent, SEL, Cooper, and Novatech. -Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations -Experience with project management of protection and control teams working in HV substations for utility clients. -Experienced with scoping, scheduling, and budgeting process for protection and control, RTU, and telecom projects for both internal and external entities. -Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check with 7 year history -Have a valid drivers license and meet minimum motor vehicle insurability standards -Ability to work in a field environment subject to changing outdoor conditions -Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Technology in similar discipline, or Technical school diploma, or military experience in either Army Prime Power or Navy Nuclear electrical program. -Take and pass 30 hour OSHA training -Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. -RTU and telecom upgrades for various clients -Experience with transmission and distribution relays to include SEL, GE, ABB, and Westinghouse. -Experienced with SEL microprocessor relays such as 311C, 311L, 387, 411L, 421, 487B, 487E, 487V, 587, 587Z, and 787.
